arm, kvm: fix double lock on cpu_add_remove_lock
Commit
8146875de7d4 (arm, kvm: Fix CPU hotplug callback registration)
holds the lock before calling the two functions:
kvm_vgic_hyp_init()
kvm_timer_hyp_init()
and both the two functions are calling register_cpu_notifier()
to register cpu notifier, so cause double lock on cpu_add_remove_lock.
Considered that both two functions are only called inside
kvm_arch_init() with holding cpu_add_remove_lock, so simply use
__register_cpu_notifier() to fix the problem.

cpuidle: sysfs: Export target residency information
From user space, there is no way to know the target residency for each idle
state. If we want to write tools to measure the accuracy of the idle state
selection from the governor, we need this info.
As the exit latency is exported through sysfs, exporting the target residency
in the same place makes sense.

sched: remove sleep_on() and friends
This is the final piece in the puzzle, as all patches to remove the
last users of \(interruptible_\|\)sleep_on\(_timeout\|\) have made it
into the 3.15 merge window. The work was long overdue, and this
interface in particular should not have survived the BKL removal
that was done a couple of years ago.
Citing Jon Corbet from http://lwn.net/2001/0201/kernel.php3":
"[...] it was suggested that the janitors look for and fix all code
that calls sleep_on() [...] since (1) almost all such code is
incorrect, and (2) Linus has agreed that those functions should
be removed in the 2.5 development series".
We haven't quite made it for 2.5, but maybe we can merge this for 3.15.

cpufreq: create another field .flags in cpufreq_frequency_table
Currently cpufreq frequency table has two fields: frequency and driver_data.
driver_data is only for drivers' internal use and cpufreq core shouldn't use
it at all. But with the introduction of BOOST frequencies, this assumption
was broken and we started using it as a flag instead.
There are two problems due to this:
- It is against the description of this field, as driver's data is used by
the core now.
- if drivers fill it with -3 for any frequency, then those frequencies are
never considered by cpufreq core as it is exactly same as value of
CPUFREQ_BOOST_FREQ, i.e. ~2.
The best way to get this fixed is by creating another field flags which
will be used for such flags. This patch does that. Along with that various
drivers need modifications due to the change of struct cpufreq_frequency_table.

cpufreq: use kzalloc() to allocate memory for cpufreq_frequency_table
Few drivers are using kmalloc() to allocate memory for frequency
tables and since we will have an additional field '.flags' in
'struct cpufreq_frequency_table', these might become unstable.
Better get these fixed by replacing kmalloc() by kzalloc() instead.
Along with that we also remove use of .driver_data from SPEAr driver
as it doesn't use it at all. Also, writing zero to .driver_data is not
required for powernow-k8 as it is already zero.

cpufreq: don't print value of .driver_data from core
CPUFreq core doesn't control value of .driver_data and this field is
completely driver specific. This can contain any value and not only
indexes. For most of the drivers, which aren't using this field, its
value is zero. So, printing this from core doesn't make any sense.
Don't print it.

cpufreq: ia64: don't set .driver_data to index
.driver_data field is only required to be filled if drivers want to
preserve some data in there which they can use according to the value
of .frequency. But this driver isn't using this field at all, but just
setting it equal to the index value. Which isn't required. Fix it.

Enable CPUFreq for PowerNV. Select "performance", "powersave",

cpufreq: powernv: Use cpufreq_frequency_table.driver_data to store pstate ids
The .driver_data field in the cpufreq_frequency_table was supposed to
be private to the drivers. However at some later point, it was being
used to indicate if the particular frequency in the table is the
BOOST_FREQUENCY. After patches [1] and [2], the .driver_data is once
again private to the driver. Thus we can safely use
cpufreq_frequency_table.driver_data to store pstate_ids instead of
having to maintain a separate array powernv_pstate_ids[] for this
purpose.

cpufreq: powernv: cpufreq driver for powernv platform
Backend driver to dynamically set voltage and frequency on
IBM POWER non-virtualized platforms. Power management SPRs
are used to set the required PState.
This driver works in conjunction with cpufreq governors
like 'ondemand' to provide a demand based frequency and
voltage setting on IBM POWER non-virtualized platforms.
PState table is obtained from OPAL v3 firmware through device
tree.
powernv_cpufreq back-end driver would parse the relevant device-tree
nodes and initialise the cpufreq subsystem on powernv platform.
The code was originally written by svaidy@linux.vnet.ibm.com. Over
time it was modified to accomodate bug-fixes as well as updates to the
the cpu-freq core. Relevant portions of the change logs corresponding
to those modifications are noted below:

cpufreq: exynos: Disable on multiplatform build
The current exynos cpufreq drivers are not multiplatform compliant
and give build errors as they refer to header files from machine
directory. Work to migrate them to generic cpufreq framework is
under way. Till such time disable the build on multiplatform so
that other multiplatform ready features get tested.

f2fs: introduce f2fs_issue_flush to avoid redundant flush issue
Some storage devices show relatively high latencies to complete cache_flush
commands, even though their normal IO speed is prettry much high. In such
the case, it needs to merge cache_flush commands as much as possible to avoid
issuing them redundantly.
So, this patch introduces a mount option, "-o flush_merge", to mitigate such
the overhead.
If this option is enabled by user, F2FS merges the cache_flush commands and then
issues just one cache_flush on behalf of them. Once the single command is
finished, F2FS sends a completion signal to all the pending threads.
Note that, this option can be used under a workload consisting of very intensive
concurrent fsync calls, while the storage handles cache_flush commands slowly.

- Improve the on-disk layout of multithreaded writes to the
dm-thin-pool by splitting the pool's deferred bio list to be a
per-thin device list and then sorting that list using an rb_tree.
The subsequent read throughput of the data written via multiple
threads improved by ~70%.
- Simplify the multipath target's handling of queuing IO by pushing
requests back to the request queue rather than queueing the IO
internally.

"A large part of the arm-soc patches are nowadays DT changes, adding
support for new SoCs, boards and devices without changing kernel
source. The plan is still to move the devicetree files out of the
kernel tree and reduce the amount of churn going on here, but we keep
finding reasons to delay doing that.
Changes are really all over the place, with little sticking out
particularly. We have contributions from a total of 116 people in
this branch.
Unfortunately, the size of this branch also causes a significant
number of conflicts at the moment, typically when subsystem
maintainers merge patches that change the driver at the same time as
the dts files. In most cases this could be avoided because the dts
changes are supposed to be compatible in both ways, and we are asking
everyone to send ARM dts changes through our tree only"

uprobes. Both kprobes and uprobes then provide their own semantic action
tables to process the results of the parsing.

- OMAP DMA updates (recently added Vinod's Ack even though they've been
sitting in linux-next for a few months) to reduce the reliance of
omap-dma on the code in arch/arm.

nfs: pass string length to pr_notice message about readdir loops
There is no guarantee that the strings in the nfs_cache_array will be
NULL-terminated. In the event that we end up hitting a readdir loop, we
need to ensure that we pass the warning message the length of the
string.

Fix index regression in nand_read_subpage
Commit
7351d3a5dbf42ba3299af71db3296be447bc1516 added an index variable
as part of fixing checkpatch warnings, presumably as a tool to make some
long lines shorter, however it only set that index in the case of there
being no gaps in eccpos for the fragment being read. Which means the
later step of filling ecccode from oob_poi will use the wrong indexing
into eccpos in that case.
This patch restores the behaviour that existed prior to that change.

Respond to non-default primary_affinity values accordingly. (Primary
affinity allows the admin to shift 'primary responsibility' away from
specific osds, effectively shifting around the read side of the
workload and whatever overhead is incurred by peering and writes by

Use krealloc() instead of rolling our own. (krealloc() with a NULL

Only version 6 of osdmap encoding is supported, anything other than

prior to calling any ceph_decode_* macro. This is ugly and fragile,
and there already are a few places where we would return 0 on error,
due to a missing reset. Follow osdmap_decode() and fix this by adding
a special e_inval label to be used by all ceph_decode_* macros.

libceph: fix crush_decode() call site in osdmap_decode()
The size of the memory area feeded to crush_decode() should be limited
not only by osdmap end, but also by the crush map length. Also, drop
unnecessary dout() (dout() in crush_decode() conveys the same info) and
step past crush map only if it is decoded successfully.

crush: add chooseleaf_vary_r tunable
The current crush_choose_firstn code will re-use the same 'r' value for
the recursive call. That means that if we are hitting a collision or
rejection for some reason (say, an OSD that is marked out) and need to
retry, we will keep making the same (bad) choice in that recursive
selection.
Introduce a tunable that fixes that behavior by incorporating the parent
'r' value into the recursive starting point, so that a different path
will be taken in subsequent placement attempts.
Note that this was done from the get-go for the new crush_choose_indep
algorithm.
This was exposed by a user who was seeing PGs stuck in active+remapped
after reweight-by-utilization because the up set mapped to a single OSD.

crush: fix off-by-one errors in total_tries refactor
Back in
27f4d1f6bc32c2ed7b2c5080cbd58b14df622607 we refactored the CRUSH
code to allow adjustment of the retry counts on a per-pool basis. That
commit had an off-by-one bug: the previous "tries" counter was a *retry*
count, not a *try* count, but the new code was passing in 1 meaning
there should be no retries.
Fix the ftotal vs tries comparison to use < instead of <= to fix the
problem. Note that the original code used <= here, which means the
global "choose_total_tries" tunable is actually counting retries.
Compensate for that by adding 1 in crush_do_rule when we pull the tunable
into the local variable.
This was noticed looking at output from a user provided osdmap.
Unfortunately the map doesn't illustrate the change in mapping behavior
and I haven't managed to construct one yet that does. Inspection of the
crush debug output now aligns with prior versions, though.
