Altered the .gitignore to properly ignore unittest build biproducts

Altered the .gitignore to properly ignore unittest build biproducts

gitignore wasn't ignoring the gtest install and hippomocks installed
components.

Cleaned whitespace for the unittests makefile, which had tons of
trailing whitespace issues.
