(du invocation): Use if=/dev/null rather
than :|.  Problem reported by Dan Jacobson.
Use "seek=2GiB" rather than the wordier "seek=`echo '2^31'|bc`".
Say "KiB" not the (inaccurate) "kilobytes".
Similarly for "GiB" and "gigabytes".
