Install from source:

Basic step:
       ./configure --prefix=/usr
       make
       make install

On Ubuntu:
    1. Install some package for build:
       sudo apt-get install build-essential libscim-dev

    2. Open a Terminal, change directory to parent of scim-unikey-version.tar.gz and type
       tar xvzf scim-unikey-version.tar.gz
       ./configure --prefix=/usr
       make
       sudo make install

       (for smaller size use: sudo make install-strip)

    3*. For uninstall, type:
       sudo make uninstall
