45 * Reverted change of ABI data structures for s390 and s390x:
46 On s390 and s390x the size of struct ucontext and jmp_buf was increased in
47 2.19. This change is reverted in 2.20. The introduced 2.19 symbol versions
48 of getcontext, setjmp, _setjmp, __sigsetjmp, longjmp, _longjmp, siglongjmp
49 are preserved pointing straight to the same implementation as the old ones.
50 Given that, new callers will simply provide a too-big buffer to these
51 functions. Any applications/libraries out there that embed jmp_buf or
52 ucontext_t in an ABI-relevant data structure that have already been rebuilt
53 against 2.19 headers will have to rebuilt again. This is necessary in any
54 case to revert the breakage in their ABI caused by the glibc change.
56 * Support for file description locks is added to systems running the
57 Linux kernel. The standard file locking interfaces are extended to
58 operate on file descriptions, not file descriptors, via the use of
59 F_OFD_GETLK, F_OFD_SETLK, and F_OFD_SETLKW. File description locks

168 support compiling programs that are derived from BSD sources and use

172 * CVE-2012-4412 The strcoll implementation caches indices and rules for
173 large collation sequences to optimize multiple passes. This cache
174 computation may overflow for large collation sequences and may cause a
175 stack or buffer overflow. This is now fixed to use a slower algorithm
176 which does not use a cache if there is an integer overflow.
178 * CVE-2012-4424 The strcoll implementation uses malloc to cache indices and
179 rules for large collation sequences to optimize multiple passes and falls
180 back to alloca if malloc fails, resulting in a possible stack overflow.
181 The implementation now falls back to an uncached collation sequence lookup
184 * CVE-2013-4788 The pointer guard used for pointer mangling was not
185 initialized for static applications resulting in the security feature

260 On s390 and s390x the size of struct ucontext and jmp_buf was increased to
261 allow for future hardware extensions. All library functions that accept or
262 return these structures were versioned in order to provide backwards
263 compatibility with existing code. However, not all cases can be handled
264 with interface versioning. If an application embeds either structure into
265 another structure and that structure is passed to another compilation unit
266 which expects the newer larger-sized object then any access to the new
267 fields will result in undefined behaviour. Similarly any access to fields
268 that were moved by the enlarging of the structures will cause undefined
269 behaviour. To fix the undefined behaviour all objects that are part of the
270 final in-memory image must agree on the size of structures, and this may
271 require recompilation.
