   1 Fontconfig is built with the traditional configure script:

   3         $ ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man

   5 This should generate valid Makefiles, then:

  10 If you're going to package fontconfig for release, there are several
  11 important steps:

  13  1.     Update the version numbers
  14                 configure.in
  15                 fontconfig/fontconfig.h
  16  2.     Fix the README
  17                 Change version number
  18                 Set the date
  19  3.     Commit those changes
  20  4.     rebuild the configuration files with autogen.sh
  21                 sh autogen.sh --sysconfdir=/etc --prefix=/usr --mandir=/usr/share/man
  22  5.     make distcheck
  23  6.     tag the tree
  24                 cvs tag fc-2_2_xx
  25  7.     Split out the ChangeLog into ChangeLog-2.2.xx with
  26         the changes since the previous release
  27  8.     Copy ChangeLog-2.2.xx and fontconfig-2.2.xx.tar.gz to
  28         freedesktop.org:/srv/fontconfig.freedesktop.org/www/release
  29  9.     Update the Fontconfig Devel wiki page

  31 10.     Compute md5sums for release files:
  32                 md5sum fontconfig-2.2.xx.tar.gz ChangeLog-2.2.xx
  33 11.     Post a note to fontconfig@fontconfig.org.  Include the md5sums.
  34         gpg sign the message.
