   3 Backwards-incompatible changes to DocBook that are planned for V4.0:\r

   5 - The DocInfo element will be split out into ChapterInfo, AppendixInfo,\r
   6   etc.  ArtHeader will be renamed to ArticleInfo.  SeriesInfo may be\r
   7   discarded because it has become a special case of BiblioSet.\r
   8   BookBiblio will be discarded in favor of a new, more inclusive,\r
   9   structure for BookInfo (and for ArticleInfo, whose earlier ArtHeader\r
  10   form contained BookBiblio).\r

  12 - The %article.class; entity may be removed from the Book content model,\r
  13   and made part of a new top-level document hierarchy.\r
  14 \r
  15 - The %nav.class; entity, which appears in several divisions, will allow\r
  16   ToCchap instead of ToC.\r
  17 \r
  18 - MsgText will be moved from tech.char.class to a more appropriate\r
  19   parameter entity.\r
  20 \r
  21 - The following elements will have their content constrained to the\r
  22   %smallcptr.char.mix; mixture: Action, Command, Database, Filename,\r
  23   Hardware, Interface, KeyCap, Literal, Option, Parameter, Property, and\r
  24   SystemItem.\r

  26 - AuthorBlurb and Affiliation will be removed from %person.ident.mix;\r
  27   and a new wrapper element created to allow association of those two\r
  28   elements with Author name information.\r

  30 - Epigraph will be disallowed from appearing in BlockQuote.\r

  32 - Comment will be renamed to Remark and will be excluded from itself.\r

  34 - GlossTerm will be excluded from itself, and may be split into an\r
  35   element that appears in a Glossary and an element that can appear in\r
  36   the main text.\r

  38 - The Subject attribute on GlossDef will be renamed Keyword.\r

  40 - Two SegTitle elements will be required in SegmentedList.\r

  42 - Graphic and InlineGraphic will be declared EMPTY.  This change will\r
  43   require that end-tags be removed and that any embedded graphic content\r
  44   be stored outside the SGML source and pointed to from an Entityref or\r
  45   Fileref attribute.\r

  47 - The OptMult and ReqMult values for the Choice attribute on Group\r
  48   will be removed.  Use the Rep attribute instead to indicate that the\r
  49   choice is repeatable.\r

  51 - The content model group inside FuncSynopsis starting with FuncDef\r
  52   will not be available; you will have to use FuncPrototype.  Also, you\r
  53   will be able to have a mixture of FuncPrototypes and FuncSynopsisInfos\r
  54   (this is not backwards-incompatible all by itself).\r

  56 - The EnvironVar and Prompt values for the Class attribute on SystemItem\r
  57   will be eliminated; use the EnVar and Prompt elements instead.\r

  59 - All link elements will be excluded from themselves and each other.\r
